DLSZ takes pride in two of its alumni, Anna Rosario R. Oposa (DLSZ 2006) and Dr. Jaime Alfonso M. Aherrera (DLSZ 2002), for being among the 10 awardees of the 2021 The Outstanding Young Men and Women (TOYM).

Anna and Dr. Jaime’s TOYM Awards are for the Environment and Marine Conservation category and Medicine/Cardiology category, respectively.
Presently, Anna is the Executive Director of Marine Conservation Organization. She established a non-profit organization called Save Philippines Seas (SPS) in 2011 and continues to save our country’ seas through collective effort from volunteers who have the same passion as her.

Meanwhile, Dr. Jaime specializes in Internal Medicine, Epidemiology and Cardiology. He is being recognized for his researches that have been used to manage heart attacks at the Philippine General Hospital. Two years ago, Dr. Jaime was also one of the 12 researchers recognized with the 2020 Outstanding Young Scientist Awards (OYS) by the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST).

The 2021 TOYM theme, “Everyday Leaders Enabling Extraordinary Impact,” has aligned with Anna’s mission of saving the seas, which has brought remarkable influence to many; and Dr. Jaime’s contribution in the medical field.
The Junior Chamber International (JCI) Philippines announced the winners last April 1, 2022 and the awards ceremony will be held on April 8, 2022.
