PEARL Announcement: MLD Orientation and Training

The school, through the PEARL Program, is inviting all interested Grade 5, Grade 6, Grade 9 and Second Year High School parents and students to join the Mobile Learning Device Orientation and Training on May 11, 18 and 25, 2013 from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm which will be held at the Center for Lasallian Formation (CLF). The training will include the use of educational applications currently used by the teachers under the Program.

Deadline of Application for Admission to Kinder and Grade 1 on May 2

PEARL Announcement: Purchase of iPads

We would like to inform the Parents of the incoming levels of Grade 5, Grade 6, Grade 9 and Second Year High School with the PEARL Program for Academic Year 2013-2014, that they may now purchase their iPad units starting Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the PowerMac store in Festival Mall.

To avail of the student discounted price, please bring your child's school ID or assessment form (for AY 2013-2014). If you intend to buy more than the units for your child, it will be the prerogative of the staff of PowerMac to give you the student discounted price.

PowerMac will also set up a selling booth in DLSZ starting Tuesday, April 16 until April 30, 2013 near the ISTS Office in time for enrollment.

We hope to finalize the cost of the insurance for new and old iPads this April, which shall be paid at the Cashier of DLSZ.

Registration for new and old iPads will be required through your Family Portal account. Details on registration will be announced during enrollment this April.

E-book downloads will be available by the end of May. The e-book fees shall also be paid at the Cashier of DLSZ.

Report cards of grades 6 & 7 students may be claimed at the Registrar's Office starting today. Those for the Junior Prep to Grade 5, First Year, Second Year and Third Year shall be distributed on April 11 (Thursday), at 8:00 am to 12:00 nn . The venue for the Grade School is at the CPA Lobby; the High School in their respective classrooms. All teachers in the said levels will be available for consultation during the same period.

DLSZ 13 & Under Grade School Basketball Varsity Team Dominates Three Tournaments

Congratulations to the athletes and officials of the DLSZ’s Grade School 13 and Under Basketball Varsity Team for winning three tournament championships for the Season 2012-2013 (PAYA 13 Under, LSMS 13 Under and MSSA 13 Under). The team is composed of Coach Romel Felix, Team Consultant Warren Capitan, Team Captains Monzie Del Prado and Carlos Gatmaytan, Franco Roldan, Martin Romero, Andre Ong, Aikee Yabut, Anton Silva, Ramy Cousart, Judge Manzano, Seth Catalan, Julio Banzon, Miguel Domingo, Kyne Samson, Josh Patricio, Nathan Punongbayan, and River Joseph.

Undeniably, this team will go down in history as one of the best grade school basketball teams. The team has accomplished and created a record of sorts by winning all their games in the three basketball tournaments. They are the first DLSZ basketball team to win a PAYA Championship. This year was also the first time that DLSZ joined the MSSA basketball tournament and the boys made sure that DLSZ is going to be a force to be reckoned with in the years to come. The team also continued the DLSZ 13 Under legacy in the LSMS league. Congratulations to the boys. Kudos to the coaching staff. ANIMO LA SALLE!

Condolences to the Families of Our Departed Staff, Luciano Alemania & Renato Mitante

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Luciano Alemania, DLSZ lifeguard and pool attendant and Mr. Renato Mitante, high school Science lab technician both on March 20, 2013. Louie Alemania's body lies in state at his home residence in Rosario Complex, San Pedro, Laguna. He will be buried on Sunday, March 24, 2013. He is survived by his wife Julita and two children. Louie has served the school for 17 years. Mang Nato's remains, on the other hand, lies in state at La Bien Memorial Chapel, 9003 Gen. Evangelista St. , Maliksi II, Bacoor, Cavite. Details of his burial will be announced soon. After losing his wife to cancer last year, Mang Nato left behind three children. As one of the pioneer employees of DLSZ, Nato would have shared with his contemporaries the distinction of rendering 35 years of service to the school. The entire Academic Community, together with their families, request the pious readers to pray for the eternal repose of their souls. God speed, Louie and Mang Nato! Rest in peace!

GEM Students Win in the Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge Area Team Finals

Congratulations to the Goals of Excellence in Mathematics (GEM) grade 7 team for having won Second Place in the recently concluded Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge 2013 Area Finals held last February 9, 2013 at the Divine Light Academy. Composed of Alyssa Guevara, Job Andre Mingoa, and Bianca Shareena Reforma, the grade 7 team was also able to compete in the Sectoral and Regional Level. Congratulations also to the following GEM members who were recognized for being among the top scorers among all the students who took the written examination during the elimination round:

Grade 2: Martin Gabriel Yulo – Third Honors
Grade 6: Jared Adriel Elamparo - First Honors and Julia Nicole Saulog – Third Honors
Grade 7: Alyssa Guevara – Third Honors

Yulo, Elamparo and Guevara also qualified in the Individual Finals. In this round, they answered another set of written test. Guevara emerged Top 7 in the Sectoral Level and Top 8 in the Regional Level. DLSZ Girls Reign Over 33rd National Quiz Bee Muntapat Division

Congratulations to Alyssa Guevara (DLSZ 2017) and Sofia Iliana Suarez (DLSZ 2018) for their feat in the 33^rd National Quiz Bee Division Level held last February 23, 2013 at San Beda College Alabang. Guevara was declared the Champion of the MUNTAPAT Division in the Mathematics Category, while Suarez got the First Runner-Up in the Makabayan Category. The contest was open to all grades 4-7 students from both public and private schools. Guevara represented the MUNTAPAT Division in the Regional Finals held last March 8, 2013 at the Jose Rizal University, Mandaluyong. Kudos to their coaches, Mr. Jun Acopiado and Ms. Grace Nueva, for preparing their students in this competition.
