Viridescent Spectrum
Art Buffet Significance & Objectives
“The world is but a canvas to our imagination”
– Henry David Thorean
There is a certain aspect of living that revolves around the intake of our surroundings. From what we see to what we hear, the thought of consumption plays its role in our daily lives. Yet, we also live in a world of indifference. With a clear understanding of how we live in ignorance of most of the beauty around us, we go through the day doing what it takes to make it to tomorrow. As we tread on, we seemingly forget that our lives are not based from the constructs of what our senses give us.
There is a world of beauty beyond our senses, all it takes to find it is a sense of humanity through our emotions. The inherent thought of an art buffet would be to acknowledge the aspect of interconnectivity, in creating a certain stimulus that would invoke people to find that piece of humanity within them and would also portray an artist’s inner-self. Doing so would create a sense of self-actualization in the context of truly understanding the beauty that surrounds us. A real tragedy would be living one’s life without ever knowing of the beauty hiding beneath the surface of everything.
The thought behind a viridescent spectrum is a sense of diversity and uniqueness in our roots. As each individual artist showcase their own uniqueness to the world, there is an understanding that we are all there as one.
Listed are the objectives this exhibit will entail :

  1. Showcasing Art and Art Appreciation

The students of De La Salle Zobel will showcase their artworks and share their innate creativity to the world. From 1st graders to the Seniors, each batch will be represented for the art buffet. This entails a sense of appreciation towards the value of art and one’s creativity.

  1. Create a Sense of Self-Actualization in Understanding Beauty

Living life can only get better by understanding the state of beauty around you. There are people today who do not necessarily see this beauty, and that is what we would like to enhance.

  1. A Process of Learning for Arts & Design Students

Artists never stop learning. An understanding of working with art is that you can never stop learning, growing, and bettering what you do. Not only do we have to know how to create and master our craft, but we must be able to know how to showcase them. This event would hold as a wondrous learning mark in the lives of the SHS Arts & Design students as for they are the ones participating in helping the entirety of the event.

  1. Upholding the Lasallian Values

The Lasallian Values are there to guide individuals in becoming a better member of society. There is a sense of unity and need to create a better world, which we are trying to achieve through the art buffet. Helping others help themselves by enhancing the look on life would mean creating an aspect of good in the world.
