The rigid trainings, hard work and perseverance of our DLSZ Chess Team paved the way to success. The team bagged medals in the recent Philippine Athletic Youth Association (PAYA) online chess tournament held last January 23, 2021.
DLSZ team A, with its members Jethro Dino Aquino (DLSZ 2022), Angele Tenshie Biete (DLSZ 2024), Joaquin Nicholas De Guzman (DLSZ 2022), Bjorn Isaac Escalona (DLSZ 2023), Rodvin Torres (DLSZ 2022) and Jefferson Villarin (DLSZ 2024), was declared Champion in the Juniors Division.
Meanwhile, DLSZ team B bagged the 4th place with its members Dale Crisaldo (DLSZ 2022), Maxine Darvin (DLSZ 2021), Ryan Moreno (DLSZ), Marc Gereth Nolasco (DLSZ 2022), Mariana Isabella Pecjo (DLSZ 2021) and Glesit Marie Tatoy (DLSZ 2021).
Our team in Middle School Division was also awarded 4th place with its members Jacobson Co (DLSZ 2028), Eddrich Costes (DLSZ 2028), Dominic Francisco Edralin (DLSZ 2031), Bernardo Isaiah Escalona III (DLSZ 2028), Francesca Violet Icay (DLSZ 2028), Christian Joseph Malabanan Jr. (DLSZ 2029).
The teams competed against different chess enthusiasts from Xavier School, Ateneo de Manila University, Claret School of Quezon City and De La Salle Greenhills.
