As the rest of the world tries to recover from the fatal effects brought about by Covid19, the DLSZ chess team did not stop to continue to learn despite the obstacles of this pandemic. The team joined the 2020 Interscholastic Sports Association (ISSA) virtual competition last October 17 and 24, 2020 competing against International School Manila, Xavier School, Beacon Academy and British School Manila students.
The team won 2nd place in both middle school and high school team divisions. The silver awardees from the high school team are Jethro Aquino ((DLSZ 2022), Joaquin de Guzman (DLSZ 2022), Rodvin Torres(DLSZ 2022) and Glesit Tatoy (DLSZ 2021). The silver awardees from the middle school team are Tenshi Biete (DLSZ 2024), Jefferson Villarin (DLSZ 2024) Bernardo Isaiah Escalona III (DLSZ 2028), Jacobson Co (DLSZ 2028), and Francesca Violet Icay (DLSZ 2028). Our team also bagged seven (7) additional medals: 1 gold, 2 silver, and 4 bronze.

All division contests were held online via video conferencing platforms. With this competition, it shows that pandemic or not, our chess team members are always ready to take the challenge.
