Four of our very own De La Salle Zobel high school students were selected to represent the Philippines in the recently held 18U Asian Baseball Championship by the Baseball Federation of Asia (BFA).
Antonio Jose Francisco (DLSZ 2015), Daniel Geoffrey Magsadia (DLSZ 2016), Ivan Enrique Hernandez (DLSZ 2016) and Miguel Ofilada (DLSZ 2017), were among the pool of players who participated in this AAA tournament hosted by the Amateur Baseball Association of Thailand (ABAT) at the Queen Sirikit Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand last September 1 to 6, 2014.
Powerhouse teams in Asia, namely Korea, Japan and Chinese Taipei participated in this illustrious tournament. The other teams were China, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Pakistan.
The Philippine team played with the best-of-the-best in Asia and was able to grab the 4th place, besting China, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Pakistan which pulled the Philippine’s overall ranking in the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) up by 2 notches.
