“Protecting Heritage, Fostering Creativity in an Environment of Peace and Justice”.
This was the leitmotif of the 2018 International Assembly of Youth for UNESCO (Y4U) held on September 6 – 8, 2018 held at the ICON Hotel, Timog, Quezon City.
Organized by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization, National association of UNESCO Clubs in the Philippines, and the National Coordinating Body of Clubs and Association of UNESCO, the event gathered 350 representatives from the Philippines and the Asia Pacific region who are members of the UNESCO Clubs.
De La Salle Santiago Zobel School was represented by two student leaders namely Janna Ysabellle F. Medrero (DLSZ 2019) and Riel Francine J. Ornada (DLSZ 2021) of the High School Student Representative Coordinating Council (HS SRCC) in the assemblage to share the best practices of the different clubs and organizations of the school that are related to the Sustainable Development Goals.
Janna Ysabelle F. Medrero, HS SRCC Social Action Vice President, was chosen as one of the presenters to report DLSZ flagship projects which are “Dare to Care”, “Abot Lasalyano”, and Adopt A Child” that respond to the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations specifically SDG # 16 Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, SDG # 10 Reduced Inequalities, SDG # 5 Gender Equality, and SDG #1 No Poverty. At the end of the event, the Social Action Club of the school was awarded the Best Club in High School Category.
The DLSZ contingent was accompanied by Ms. Karla Aquino, Social Action Office Minister, and Ms. Wilma Erica Villa, Lasallian Formation and Mission Department Secretary.
