
Geared up for the final encounter to outwit the equally best international math contenders, the DLSZ Mathletes from the Goals for Excellence in Mathematics (GEM) program have once again excelled internationally, securing two (2) Gold, three (3) Silver, and five (5) bronze medals, as they competed in Fermat Mathematical Olympiad (FMO) held from January 9-11, 2025 in Royal Lotus Hotel, Da Nang, Vietnam.
Twelve countries including Indonesia, India, Thailand, Bulgaria, Hongkong-Macau, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Cambodia, Malaysia, Kyrgyzstan, Vietnam, and the Philippines participated in this year’s FMO.
Through their efforts, all Philippine delegates from DLSZ managed to snatch a medal in the said competition. Here are the winners:
Gold medals:
Iñigo Sebastian Ricardo (DLSZ 2035) and Ava Calaquian (DLSZ 2031)
Silver medals:
Gavin Isaiah Gacusan (DLSZ 2035), Kristof Aviel Lu (DLSZ 2035), and Gabriel Subion (DLSZ 2034)
Bronze medals:
Hailie Alexandra Chua (DLSZ 2036), Irene Margaret Divine Lapuz (DLSZ 2036), Isaac Ancheta (DLSZ 2035), Johan Marcus Santos (DLSZ 2035), and Audrey Marie Yason (DLSZ 2031)
Our said students were chosen to be part of the competition after winning in the FMO national round held last August 18, 2024.
