Last November 6-8, eight (8) debaters competed in UPLB Debate Society’s Luzon Intervarsity XIII held via Discord.
Following the six (6) preliminary rounds against multiple universities and high schools on the first two days. Three (3) Zobel Teams broke. With:
- DLSZ B (Ronquillo & Sering) broke 29th in the Open Category beating 11 teams in the preliminary rounds, accumulating 923 combined speaker points. Getting two 1sts, and two 2nds.
- DLSZ C (Lachaona & Tan) broke 22nd in the Open Category beating 12 teams in the preliminary rounds, accumulating 919 combined speaker points. Getting one 1st, and four 2nds.
- DLSZ D (Dela Cruz & Laigo) broke 4th in the Novice Category beating 11 teams in the preliminary rounds, accumulating 905 combined speaker points. Getting three 1sts, and one 2nd.
The elimination rounds were more challenging than the preliminary rounds. In each break round, only two out of the four teams in each room would advance. The following are the outround reachings of each team:
- DLSZ B (Ronquillo & Sering) ending their run as Open Octofinalists. Bowing out to debaters from University of Santo Tomas and University of the Philippines Diliman.
- DLSZ C (Lachaona & Tan) ending their run as Open Quarterfinalists. Bowing out to debaters from Philippine Science High School Main Campus and University of the Philippines Diliman.
- DLSZ D (Dela Cruz & Laigo) ending their run as Novice Semifinalists. Bowing out to debaters from University of Santo Tomas and De La Salle University Manila.
