DLSZ Junior Lady Tankers Claim 9th Straight WNCAA Championship
Congratulations to the DLSZ Junior Lady Tankers for capturing their ninth consecutive Overall Swimming Championship on February 8, 2026 at San Beda Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
The group once again cemented their place in WNCAA history. With only 11 swimmers on the roster—most of them young junior high school athletes—the team entered the season as one of the smallest contingents in the competition. Their journey to another title was far from easy, as this season welcomed several new schools and talented swimmers, making every point and every race more crucial than ever. Yet despite their youthful lineup and limited numbers, the team rose to the challenge with grit, resilience, and an unwavering belief in one another.
Behind this remarkable achievement was the strategic leadership of Coach Garry Domingo, whose careful planning and keen understanding of each swimmer’s strengths allowed the team to maximize every event. Every race was thoughtfully planned, and every relay was assembled with precision to bring out the best in each athlete while strengthening the team’s overall performance.
One of the most memorable moments of the celebration came during the victory party, when rookie Clara Maligat (DLSZ 2030) shared that although swimming may seem like an individual sport, it is, at its core, a team effort. Teammates lift each other up, cheer the loudest from the sidelines, and become each other’s source of strength through every victory and every setback. That is the true spirit of a Junior Lady Tanker and a Lasallian leader—one who chooses encouragement over criticism, uplifts others instead of bringing them down, and stands beside her teammates not only when they win medals, but especially during the toughest trainings and on the days when they fall short of their personal bests. After all, great swimmers are not defined by victories alone, but by the perseverance, character, and resilience they build through adversity.
This historic nine-peat is also a tribute to the generations of Junior Lady Tankers who came before them. It would not have been possible without the girls who swam their hearts out to secure the first, second, and every championship leading up to the eighth. Their dedication laid the foundation for the legacy that this new generation proudly carries forward today.
The members of the team are:
As one chapter closes, another begins. The girls now turn their attention to the upcoming season, embracing the countless hours of training that lie ahead. More than chasing another championship, they hope to inspire the next generation and uphold the legacy of excellence, unity, perseverance, and heart that has carried the team to nine consecutive WNCAA titles.
