DLSZ Clinches Top Awards at the GELOSEA International Round
Congratulations to the outstanding DLSZ students for achieving top prizes at the Global English Language Olympiad of Southeast Asia (GELOSEA) International Round held on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026 in Singapore!
Competing with around 400 delegates across grade levels from a total of ten (10) participating Asian countries, all nine (9) DLSZ students were recognized for their exceptional talent in English with the following achievements:
Diamond Medalists
Senior Secondary – Samantha Julia Badiong (DLSZ 2026) and Alexandra Reese Echevarria (DLSZ 2026)
Secondary 4 – Ranellie Ohanna Espinosa (DLSZ 2028)
Secondary 3 – Gabrielle Cassandra Baterna (DLSZ 2029)
Gold Medalists
Secondary 1 – Nico Antonio Leoncio (DLSZ 2031)
Primary 5 – Brent Izekiel Escalona (DLSZ 2033)
Silver Medalists
Primary 6 – Alexa Elise Luna (DLSZ 2032) and Lucas Supetran (DLSZ 2032)
Primary 5 – Karl Kristoff Leoncio (DLSZ 2033)

Category champion Alex Echevarria recalls, “As newfound friends held hands in anticipation, teachers and parents with their phones out, ready to capture the moment their children get called, only then could you feel how worthwhile and how much genuine connection and lifelong learning there was during the whole competition.”
“At the end of it all, everyone rejoiced in their wins, grateful for the opportunities and the people met along the way,” she adds.
Finally, the Philippines was named the Olympiad’s Country of Excellence in recognition of the dedication of Filipino students, further exemplified by the Lasallian achievers who inspire young learners across the region to strive for excellence for God and country.
