DLSZ and Mohawk College Launch STEM Study Tour Partnership Through MOU Signing

De La Salle Santiago Zobel School (DLSZ) and Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on December 4, 2025, establishing a partnership focused on providing STEM-focused international study tour opportunities for DLSZ learners.

The agreement will enable students to participate in short-term STEM study tours at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario, where they will engage in laboratory exposure, industry-aligned experiences, innovation-focused activities, and cultural immersion. The partnership aims to broaden students’ global perspectives while strengthening their interest and competencies in STEM fields.

The MOU virtual signing was carried out through a hybrid setup. Dr. Janette Torrato, Academic Services Department Director, Ms. Jacylyn Lapa, Officer-in-Charge of the International and Exchange Programs Office, Mr. Jelson Sales, Market Specialist of Mohawk College for Southeast Asia, and Ms. Ivy Candelasa, Senior Education Counselor of Wise Immigration and Study Services Inc. attended onsite at the Alabang Campus.

Joining remotely were Dr. Ruby Ramos, School Principal and Dr. Genevieve Pillar, Applied Sciences Chair from DLSZ. From Mohawk College are Ms. Thea Laidman, Associate Vice President for International, Ms. Allison Stewart, Manager for International Programs and Strategic Initiatives, Ms. Breska Ulhaq, Global Business Development Specialist – International Partnerships & Recruitment, and Ms. Leah Fe Balucan, CEO and Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant.

During her remarks, Dr. Ruby Ramos emphasized the importance of expanding global opportunities for students: “As Lasallian educators, we continually seek avenues that help our students grow into future-ready, global learners. This STEM study tour at Mohawk College will open meaningful experiences that broaden students’ horizons, strengthen their potential, and ignite their spark.”

Representing Mohawk College, Ms. Thea Laidman expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration: “This partnership reflects our shared belief in the value of global learning. We look forward to welcoming DLSZ students to Mohawk College, providing immersive STEM experiences that inspire innovation and curiosity, and exploring the opportunities this collaboration will create for our students, faculty, and community.”

Under the MOU, both institutions will work together to plan program content, coordinate logistics, and ensure students’ engagement in academic, cultural, and experiential learning activities aligned with STEM fields. The agreement also ensures compliance with relevant educational and privacy standards in both countries.

The signing of the MOU marks a significant step in the school’s efforts to expand international STEM learning opportunities, promoting global citizenship, innovation, and academic excellence among its learners.
