The De La Salle Santiago Zobel School (DLSZ) High School Girls Softball Team delivered an impressive performance at the WNCAA Championship, securing 1st Runner-Up last February 1 and 2, 2025 at the Assumption Antipolo, Rizal.
Under the leadership of Head Coach Tin Bautista and Coach Bajick Bueña, the DLSZ girls dominated their matches leading up to the finals, defeating Miriam College 13-9 and overpowering Assumption Antipolo 17-0 in a commanding victory. Pitcher Margaux Aniban showcased her skill on the mound with confidence and composure thriving under pressure, while Hailey Cueto was a defensive powerhouse at first base, committing zero errors. On third base, Blessy Cayao provided a solid defensive block, while Catcher Bea Biñas played a crucial role behind the plate, demonstrating outstanding defensive skills and making key plays to shut down scoring opportunities for the opposing teams.

On offense, Erica Fischbuch was a standout, batting a perfect 1.000 with a triple, a double, and a single, finishing the game with five RBIs, driving in Cueto, Biñas, and Henson. Alexi Henson contributed with two singles to left field, while Biñas bagged two base hits. Sophia Chingcuangco and Maria Paneda added to the team’s firepower, each delivering a single to center field, helping to secure a crucial win on the road to the championship match.
Despite their remarkable efforts, the team fell short in the championship game against St. Paul College, who claimed the title. However, this achievement is a testament to the team’s dedication and resilience, especially considering they were only formed in September 2024. Their hard work, talent, and determination throughout the tournament proved that they are a rising force in high school softball.
