By Mr. Leopoldo F. Sumera Jr., DLSZ Strings Teacher

From July 17-22, 2024, our talented DLSZ Strings students showcased their exceptional skills at the prestigious 2024 Singapore Raffles International Music Festival (SRIMF), marking its 10th Edition in Singapore. With participation from over 20 countries and 70 different group ensembles, our DLSZ Strings students stood out for their dedication, passion, and hard work.

Their remarkable achievements were highlighted by securing multiple awards in the chamber music ensemble categories for both the Age 12 and Age 18 divisions. We are incredibly proud of their success and the honor they’ve brought to our school.

The SRIMF is an international platform for young and passionate, budding musicians. The event provides young musicians an opportunity to showcase their talents, foster friendships, and hone musical skills through competitions. Apart from competitions, the festival promises rich learning opportunities through a great variety of activities such as masterclasses, concerts, seminars and workshops by internationally acclaimed music educators and performers, generous in sharing their knowledge and imparting their skills.”

Moreover, this success was made possible thanks to the unwavering support of the school, DLSZ Strings parents and dedicated teachers—Mr. Leopoldo Sumera Jr., Ms. Joanna Camille De Leon, and Ms. Shelly Ann Isaga—alongside our School Administrators, and Mr. Daryl V. Galicia (Music Unit Head), School Adult Leader Ms. Ruby B. Cosico, and assisting pianists Ms. Eileen Miguel and Mr. Steven James Sibbaluca. Their commitment played a crucial role in our students’ exceptional performance and achievements.
