Miyake Capina (DLSZ 2027) trained and competed during the summer vacation in the United States (US). She qualified to compete in the Cadet Division at the US Fencing Summer Nationals last July 2, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio – the largest US Fencing Summer Nationals on record.
She competed in the International Regional Circuit in Hong Kong last December 2023, where she earned her ticket to the US Summer Nationals 2024 and won Bronze in the Y14 division also. Through the mentorship of Coach Ramil Endriano, she ranked 127th out of 247 fencers, narrowly missing the Direct Eliminations for the top 64 by one point.
After competing in the US, Miyake attended a one-week camp in Taiwan to prepare for the week-long Southeast Asia Pacific International Fencing Competition in Manila, which is part of the Philippine Fencing Association national ranking competition. Furthermore, she also received a Bronze award in the Team Event at the SFC International Fencing Camp in Taiwan.
The Southeast Asia Pacific International Fencing Competition took place from July 22nd to July 30th. Miyake achieved the following awards:
- 3rd Leg Seniors Ranking – Bronze
- 3rd Leg Juniors Ranking – Silver
- 4th Leg Seniors Ranking – 5th Place
- 5th Leg Seniors Ranking – 5th Place
Moving forward, Miyake is now preparing for the Taipei Asian Cadet Cup which will be held from Aug 9 to 11 2024. Together with the DLSZ Fencing Team, they will also be competing in the following: PFA 3rd Leg Cadet Ranking on September 28, Gateway 2 Ultimate Fencing Challenge Junior and Cadet on Oct 5-6, and Philippine Fencing Prestige Championships Junior and Cadet on Nov 23-24 for this Academic Year 2024-2025.
