Qualified for the Palarong Pambansa National Finals, Pi Druden Forward Wangkay (DLSZ 2027) from the DLSZ Athletics team battled it out, winning three (3) Golds for 200M, 400M and 4x400M relay, Silver for the 100M, and Bronze for the 4x100M relay, making him the “Most “Bemedalled Athlete in Secondary Boys in the whole NCR Region.” This was held during the regional meets from April 8 to 12, 2024 (CALABARZON Regional Meet) and April 22 to 26, 2024 (NCR Regional Meet).
Pi Druden Forward Wangkay, is the only Lasallian athlete who qualified for the National Finals of the Palarong Pambansa to be held in Cebu this July 2024. To qualify for the Nationals, the athlete should reach the Qualifying Time Standards (QTS) for each event that he will participate in. Pi was able to hit all QTS in all his five (5) events. Pi will now represent the National Capital Region (NCR) in the nationwide meet.
Together with the rest of the team, the Alabang Campus Team competed representing the City of Muntinlupa for the National Capital Region (NCR) Regional meet held at the Philsports Oval, Pasig City while the Vermosa Campus Team competed representing the City of Imus in the CALABARZON Regionals held at the Binan Oval, Biñan, Laguna.
The participants of the Regional meets are composed of the best student-athletes who qualified and bested the other athletes from their respective city or municipality. City or Division meets on the other hand, is the first step of the selection process. The participating schools will send their best athletes to compete with the other schools in the same City or Municipality. The top two (2) finishers for each event will qualify to represent the City or Municipality.
