Zobel Dance Crew receives the Gold Distinction and Overall Champion Excellence Award at the Youth Friendship Festival in Bali, Indonesia, Oct 1

The Cultural Affairs Office (CAO) of De La Salle Santiago Zobel (DLSZ) is delighted to announce that the Zobel Dance Crew, also known as ZDC, was awarded the Gold distinction in small and medium dance categories, and landed the Overall Champion Excellence Award in the 2023 Youth Friendship Festival held last October 1, 2023 in Bali, Indonesia

The group, composed of High School students training in hip hop, folk fusion, and modern contemporary dance, aims to inspire the youth to express themselves through creativity and artistry in movement.

As the only dance crew from the Philippines in the festival, they gave their all in their creative presentation of folk dance fusion while showcasing a unique choreography of Filipino traditional games with “Kubing” tribal music mix and Joey Ayala’s “Luksong Tinik”.

These bright and talented young dancers are Ariana Therese Montemayor (DLSZ 2025), Camille Rakesh Daryanani (DLSZ 2026), Cristina Alejandra Climent (DLSZ 2024), Dannah Nicole Simpelo (DLSZ 2024), Eyana Sophia Cortez (DLSZ 2024), Franc Gabriel Festin (DLSZ 2026), Hanna Sofia Garcia (DLSZ 2024), Isabelle Bianca Casa (DLSZ 2025), Juliana Andrea Arejola (DLSZ 2026), Juliana Santos (DLSZ 2024), Julienne Nicole Francisco (DLSZ 2024), Katina Danae Lucero (DLSZ 2024), Mien Krey Anne Kloppers (DLSZ 2027), Princess Ann Nicole Ropal (DLSZ 2025), Quennie Cassandra Del Monte (DLSZ 2024), Raine Isabel Eslabon (DLSZ 2025), Raine Louise Guarin (DLSZ 2024) and Shanlly Precious Sinchongco (DLSZ 2027).

The Zobel Dance Crew has joined several local competitions and in the 2019 Asia Pacific Arts Festival, the group received their first international Gold Distinction Award in the fusion dance category, and the Overall Festival Excellence Award for dance at the Capitol Theater, Singapore.

ZDC is led by their coach and choreographer, Ms. Mycs Villloso with moderators, Ms. Joanne Almeria and Ms. Phoebe Adrales. The Youth Friendship Festival specializes in organizing educational conferences for the youth, offering them a platform to learn and be inspired through various activities, workshops, and presentations. It aims to pursue harmony, peace, and global friendship through diversified cultural exchange and performing arts competitions. Aside from the Philippines, youth participants in this music and dance festival came from Indonesia, Republic of Turkey, USA, Vietnam and Cambodia.
