DLSZ Chess Varsity Players bags 4 medals in the ISSA Chess Tournament

The DLSZ Chess Athletes bags four (4) individual medals in the Inter-Scholastic Sports Association (ISSA) Chess Tournament on Saturday, February 4, 2023 in Xavier School, San Juan City. Seven (7) schools participated in the said tournament.

In the Middle School Division, gold medals were given to Sophia Cabodil (DLSZ 2029) and Jadenrick Labios (DLSZ 2027), in their sixth board assignments, while in the High School Division, bronze medals were awarded to Bjorn Escalona (DLSZ 2023), board 3 and Tyrhone Tabernilla (DLSZ 2026), in their first board assignments. 

The DLSZ High School team finished 4th place out of six (6) schools, and is composed of the following:

  • Tyrhone James Tabernilla (DLSZ 2026)
  • Bjorn Isaac Escalona (DLSZ 2023)
  • Mickael Cucio (DLSZ 2025)
  • Nathan Navarro (DLSZ 2025)
  • Nichael Dogelio (DLSZ 2026) 

The DLSZ Team A, Middle School Division is composed of the following:

  • Francesca Violet Icay (DLSZ 2028)
  • Sophia Cabodil (DLSZ 2029)
  • Alain Cabodil (DLSZ 2029)
  • Christian Malabanan (DLSZ 2029)
  • Liam Lingao (DLSZ 2029)
  • Julio Ong ( DLSZ 2029)

The DLSZ Team B Middle School Division is composed of the following:

  • Jadenrick Labios (DLSZ 2027)
  • Zuri Navarro (DLSZ 2026)
  • Adam Quito (DLSZ 2027)
  • Craig Sorrera (DLSZ 2028)
  • Gavin Cruz (DLSZ 2025)
