The De La Salle Zobel Boys Volleyball team won second place in the Inter Scholastic Sports Association (ISSA) tournament held last October 22, 2022 at the Colegio San Agustin School, Makati City.
The tournament is held annually and attended by more than five schools around the Metro Manila area. The ISSA tournament was canceled from 2020-2022 due to the pandemic.
“Going through the ISSA Tournament was a difficult challenge,” said Reuben Pinlac, DLSZ 2023 and current team captain. This year, the team had only 10 members, “Most of us were either new to the team or entering their first league.”
The team trained between 12 to 16 hours a week to prepare. “This is only the beginning of rebuilding our team,” said Pinlac. “There’s a lot more to learn and face in the coming days and competitions.”
Pinlac praised the team for their hard work and their ability to believe and persevere despite their setbacks and lack of experience. Coach Myk Homeres, hopes to grow the team and take home more trophies next year, “Hard work pays off!”
The team would like to extend a special thanks to God, first of all, all of the parents, sponsors, and Mr. Santi Edralin, Sports Development Office Head, for the continuous support.
