Last March 6-7, 11 debaters competed in The Parliament’s, UPLB’s Debate Society, Southern Luzon Inter-High School Debate Encounter XII.
After a successful run in the 8th Adelante Debate Cup, Zobel Parliament retains its impressive entrance to this year’s Asian Parliamentary season.
Following grueling preliminary rounds on the first day. All Zobel teams broke and advanced to the out rounds. With:
- DLSZ A (Lachaona, Garcia, Buncayo) breaking second in the Makiling Cup with three wins.
- DLSZ B (Ronquillo, Sering, Tan) breaking second in the Open Category with four wins
- DLSZ D (Pineda, Aguto, Reyes) breaking sixth in the Open Category with three wins
- Composite (Gonzales, Aguilar) breaking fourth in the Open Category with four wins
The elimination rounds teams continued to be more arduous than the preliminary rounds. In each break round, only one out of the two teams in each room would advance. Despite all of this, their runs weren’t short-lived. The following are the outround reachings of each team:
- DLSZ A (Lachaona, Garcia, Buncayo) reaches the Makiling Cup Finals, and bags the championship in a unanimous decision
- DLSZ B (Ronquillo, Sering, Tan) reaches the Open Category Finals, bows out in the championship on an incredibly close 4-3 split
- DLSZ D (Pineda, Aguto, Reyes) reaches the Open Category Semi-Finals
- Composite (Gonzales, Aguilar) reaches the Open Category Semi-Finals
