DLSZ Karatekas Win in Adidas Karatedo Cup

Last November 30 and December 1, 2012, DLSZ Karatekas brought honor and glory to the De La Salle Zobel by bringing home 4 Gold medals, 1 Silver medal and 1 Bronze medal at the Adidas Karate Cup at the SM Mall of Asia. The Adidas Karate Cup was participated by over 30 local clubs from the Philippines as well competitors from Japan and Indonesia.
The Green Karateka charge was led by Naoki Alforte (DLSZ 2022), beginning the first day competition with a silver medal win in the 8-9 Years Old Boys Novice Kata (Forms). Later in the day Naoki Alforte would grab hard earned 4 bout Gold medal win in the 8-9 Years Old Boys Kumite (Sparring)
Not to be outdone by her younger sibling, Sakura Alforte (DLSZ 2020) would end the day with a double gold medal finish in the 10-11 Years Old Girls Intermediate Kata and Kumite Categories. DLSZ hauled four medals out of four events participated for the first day of competition.
Day 2 of the Adidas Karate Cup (December 1), DLSZ Karatekas would again shine in the Juniors Kumite events by capturing a gold medal and a bronze medal. Jan Patrick Flores (DLSZ 2013) fought competitors from Northern Luzon as well as competitors from Mindanao to win a bronze medal in the Under 61 Kilograms Junior (16-17 Years Old) Mens Kumite.
Last but definitely not the least is Gabriel Lukban’s (DLSZ 2013) gold medal win in the Over 68 Kilograms Junior Mens Kumite. DLSZ Day 2 medal tally is two medals out of two events participated.
The De La Salle Zobel Karatedo Team is coached by DLSZ 1988 alumnus Juan Carlos Veguillas and assisted by cousin Paolo Nicolas Veguillas. Karatedo Team Training is at the Martial Arts Hall every TTHS.
