Congratulations to the De La Salle Santiago Zobel School (DLSZ)- New Zealand Bluefire Valkyries for claiming the championship trophy at the Junior Women’s Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (JrWMPBL) on February 28, 2026 at the  New Era University, Quezon City.

After a long-fought battle, the DLSZ- NZ Bluefire Valkyries secured a 54-51 victory in the 19U finals game against “BEYOUND” team. They finished the tournament with a 5-0 standing, showcasing their unrivaled spirit and ambition. Along with the Junior Lady Archers were four (4) players and Coach Emilia Vega from De La Salle University (DLSU).

Alaiza Evangelio of DLSU was named Finals Most Valuable Player, while two (2) key players – Naima Navarro (DLSZ 2026) and Alfia Mae Dulay (DLSZ BRafeNHS 2027), earned their spot in the Mythical Five.

Both teams showed resilience and dedication as the score resulted in only a 3-point lead. Despite having new players from DLSU, the DLSZ-NZ Bluefire Valkyries quickly adjusted, executed flawless gameplay, and demonstrated unmatched chemistry to claim the JrWMPBL title.

After Christmas break, the players regained momentum and refocused on their priorities, balancing training with their responsibilities as student-athletes.

Special thanks to the DLSU players, especially Coach Vega, for their collaboration and support. The shared Lasallian pride between both teams fueled the championship run.

Animo La Salle!
