
The DLSZ Girls Epee Team has made history once again, clinching the gold medal in UAAP Season 87.
In the semifinals, the team delivered a commanding performance against UST, securing a 45–28 victory to advance to the finals. There, they faced perennial contender UE in a thrilling and closely contested match.
Tensions ran high as the match unfolded. During the 7th bout, Paula Garcia (DLSZ 2026) tied the score at 32–32, igniting momentum for the team. In the 8th bout, Martina Baccay (DLSZ 2027) gave DLSZ a narrow lead, pushing the score to 36–35.
The pressure mounted in the final 9th bout—Anchor vs. Anchor. Rising to the occasion, Miyake Capina (DLSZ 2027) delivered a decisive performance, pulling away with a strong lead to secure the championship with a final score of 45–40.
This pivotal win not only crowned DLSZ as champions in the Girls Epee Team event but also earned the school a 2nd Runner-Up overall finish in the Girls Division.
The gold medal-winning team is composed of Martina Baccay, Irish Cadena, Miyake Capina, and Paula Garcia. Special thanks to Coach Galo, Coach Al, and Coach Ramil for their guidance and dedication.

The DLSZ Girls Foil Team also delivered an impressive performance, earning the silver medal. Composed of Feoriel Averilla (DLSZ BRafeNHS 2027), Martina Baccay (DLSZ 2027), Irish Cadena (DLSZ 2030) and Miyake Capina (DLSZ 2027), the team secured a 45–31 win against UST in the semifinals before falling to UE in the finals with a respectable 45–37 finish.
