The DLSZ Goals for Excellence in Mathematics (GEM) Program has demonstrated its exceptional capabilities in mathematics to start the Academic Year 2024-2025. The GEM Mathletes conquered the final round of different international competitions namely, Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge (SIMOC), Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad (HKIMO), Math Without Borders (MWB), and Thailand International Math Olympiad (TIMO) showcasing their dedication and enthusiasm in representing our school with great success.
Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge (SIMOC)
Representing not only DLSZ but the Philippines, Juan Sebastian Viernes (DLSZ 2026) bagged the silver award in the Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge (SIMOC). The competition, held in Singapore from July 20-24, 2024 features 2,231 contestants from 35 countries. Viernes was one of the 58-member Philippine delegation.
Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad (HKIMO)
In addition to Viernes’s success, five other DLSZ mathletes brought home medals from the Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad (HKIMO). HKIMO’s on-site and online competition was joined by 2, 300 students from 13 countries. From this pool of brilliant young minds, Gavin Isaiah Gacusan (DLSZ 2035) and Kenzie Timothy Ong (DLSZ 2029) earned Gold medals, Kelsey Bryn Dominguez(DLSZ 2032) got silver, while Mateo James Ocho (DLSZ 2033), Aloysius Eitan Adoremus (DLSZ 2032), Adriel Keana Riguera (DLSZ 2028), and Kervin Dominguez (DLSZ 2027) claimed Bronze medals.
Math Without Borders (MWB) 11th edition
DLSZ mathletes also excelled in MWB where Aloysius Eitan Adoremus (DLSZ 2032) received a Gold medal, while Ibarra Lee Coro (DLSZ 2030) earned a Bronze.
Thailand International Math Olympiad (TIMO)
DLSZ GEM received two (2) Silver and five(5) Bronze medals. Silver medals were awarded to Gavin Isaiah Gacusan (DLSZ 2035) and Kenzie Timothy Ong (DLSZ 2029). Additionally, Iñigo Matteo Bautista (DLSZ 2033), Megan Emmanuelle Medina (DLSZ 2033), Aloysius Eitan Adoremus (DLSZ 2032), Ibarra Lee Coro (DLSZ 2030), Julia Malabag (DLSZ 2026), and Matthew Angelo Roallos (DLSZ 2027) seized the Bronze medals. TIMO was held in Thailand from April 23-27, 2024.
In the face of intense competition globally, these Mathletes exemplified the Animo spirit with their relentless commitment and enthusiasm to hone their skills. This success was achieved thanks to the support of our GEM coaches: Ms. Maricar Berongoy, Mr. Gerard Crisologo, Ms. Julienne Fresnido, Mr. Albert Pagilagan, and Mr. Mark Xyburt John Rodelas.
Building on this success, we hope to continue our achievements in even more competitions throughout the Academic Year 2024-2025. Animo La Salle!
