DLSZ Revisits Health & Safety Practices After S.A.F.E. Launch

Inspired by the successful launch of the S.A.F.E. Program (School Aiming for a Friendly Environment) held last September 24 and 25, 2014, DLSZ President Br. Bernard S. Oca FSC, together with members of the Operations Council, discussed ways to make sure that the different service providers such as the Canteen, Lifeline, DIARS, City Green, Fieldmen, Serman, and Eight Arms are in sync with the school’s efforts of keeping its environment not only friendly but also safe and clean for all its students.
To make sure that the school is above-standard when it comes to Health and Sanitation requirements, the School will be contracting the services of an external provider or consultant from the Department of Health.  In addition to their regular responsibilities and inspection duties, the Health, Safety & Security Committee was also tasked to step up efforts by conducting spot-checks of the Canteen, especially the kitchen and food storage areas; putting in place better monitoring system for the cleaning of lavatories;  and the regular issuance of Good Housekeeping badge in identified problem areas.

Furthermore, the personnel of these service providers, especially the front liners, will be required to undergo training on Customer Relations, Ethical Behavior towards Children, Handling Complaints, and First Aid, to name a few.   These training seminars should equip them with the necessary skills to better handle the school’s clientele.

As deterrent to undesirable or unlawful activities especially at night, additional spot lights, lamp posts, and security cameras will be installed.  Students and Lasallian Partners who have to stay after dark will feel safer in a brightly-lit campus.

With all these measures, we hope to create an environment that is 100% clean, safe, and friendly for all our stakeholders, most especially for our students.
