DLSZ Welcomes De La Salle College Mangere, New Zealand for Service Learning Program on Dec. 7-13

De La Salle College Mangere, New Zealand will be visiting DLSZ on 7-13 December 2013.  Seventeen boys from Y12 and Y13 with five adult companions will take part in the Lasallian Leadership and Service Learning Program Visit. Mr. Dermot English, the Deputy Principal, heads the delegation. The visit will provide them the opportunity to experience the Filipino hospitality as well as a deeper understanding and  appreciation of the  DLSZ  charism and culture.
The visitors on their first day of visit will undergo cultural exposure by visiting significant historic sites such as San Agustin Church and Rizal park to promote understanding of the Filipino culture. On their 2nd day, they will go through school immersion which consists of campus tour, class participation and friendly games with DLSZ basketball team. On their 3nd day, they will take part in the service mission by joining the  Gawad Kalinga Built.  They will also join the relief operation for Typhoon Yolanda survivors on their 4th day. On their 5th day, they are to commit to an outreach project by having some friendly basketball and football games with the kids of Haven for Children.  In the evening they are set to do caroling to some selected families. Benefit of the caroling will be for the typhoon Yolanda survivors for the Post Recovery Rehabilitation Response of the school. They are set to leave the school on December 13, 2013.
The service learning visit is an opportunity for both DLSC Manguere New Zealand and DLSZ to strengthen our bond. The visit will allow us to continue to create communities, be in solidarity with each other and to inspire each other to be Lasallians in action. Let us all welcome the DLSC Manguere, New Zealand in our midst. Let’s extend to them the spirit of the true Lasallian hospitality.
