Congratulations to Rafaella Jean F. Villanueva (Batch 2018) who finished fourth place in the 4th Sabah Asian 14&U Junior Championships held in Sabah, Malaysia last September 16-22, 2013.
In the first round of the said tournament, she beat the Sabah pride, Nurshameem Samsuddin; and in the second round, she upset the top seed in the tournament, Franna Urgokovic of Croatia, who is also No. 18 in the Asian Tennis Federation rankings. She also upset the seventh seed in the tournament, Kirstin Leong of Malaysia in the quarterfinals. In the semi-finals she lost to 3rd seed senior from Uzbekistan, Sarvinoz Bakirova.
While in doubles, together with her Malaysian partner, they reached the quarterfinals. She performed beyond her years compared to the 14-year-old seniors in this tournament.
