Our very own Goals of Excellence in Math (GEM) students Nathaniel Ryan Vasay (DLSZ 2013), Joseph Rosh Perez (DLSZ 2014), Carlos Benedict Echevarria (DLSZ 2015), and Grant Lewis Bulaong (DLSZ 2016) won first place in the 2012 Sharp-MTG Math Trail and Problem Solving Competition (Cluster B) – Elimination Round held last November 18, 2012 at SM Bicutan. Cluster B is composed of schools from Muntinlupa, Las Pinas, Makati, Paranaque, Pasay and Taguig.
The Sharp-MTG Math Trail and Problem Solving Competition involves racing to various pre-defined stations or checkpoints where students gather measurements and clues pertinent in solving different math problems. This annual event aims to provide an in-depth exploration and discovery experience to students to learn mathematics in a collaborative manner and to improve students’ higher-order thinking skills through games and problem solving.
The DLSZ team moves on to the NCR Final Round set on January 26, 2013 at SM North Edsa.
