DLSZ Taekwondo Triumphs Across Multiple Competitions

Huge congratulations to the DLSZ Taekwondo team for a mid-year championship sweep!

2025 Batang Pinoy National Championships

The team represented their school on the national stage from October 25 to 31, 2025 at General Santos City. 

Competing against some of the best young athletes from across the country, the team demonstrated resilience, discipline, and true sportsmanship throughout the tournament.

  • Enrico Danz Esguerra  (DLSZ 2029) –  Gold Medalist 

 

Earning a gold medal at a prestigious national event like Batang Pinoy is a remarkable achievement, reflecting the athlete’s hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence. Meanwhile, every participant showcased courage and perseverance, gaining valuable experience on a highly competitive stage.

2025 Muntiparlas Interschool Taekwondo Championships

The team competed last October 19, 2025 held at the Aguilar Sports Complex, Las Piñas City.

Competing against various schools in the Muntiparlas area, the team showcased remarkable skill, discipline, and determination.

 

2025 Milo Taekwondo Championships 

The young athletes proudly showcased their skills and determination and snatched medals in the Kyorugi (Sparring) Division last October 4–5, 2025 at the San Andres Gym, Manila City. 

  • Amanda Reign Ramos (DLSZ 2028) – Gold Medalist 
  • Maria Natalia Ilas (DLSZ 2028) – Bronze Medalist 

Earning podium finishes and gaining valuable experience in one of the country’s most prestigious taekwondo tournaments, each athlete contributed to the continued growth of the school’s taekwondo program.

 

Smart/ MVP Sports Foundation National Best of the Best Championships

The team demonstrated resilience and skill at the prestigious competition from September 6 to 7, 2025 at the San Andres Gym, Manila City.

Podium Finishes and Standout Performances

  • Paul Sebastian Alcantara (DLSZ 2029) – Bronze
  • Enrico Danz Esguerra (DLSZ 2029) – Bronze
  • Skye Phoenix Santiago (DLSZ 2037) – Bronze

Displaying Heart and Determination

Competing in the high-stakes Kyorugi (sparring) events, the athletes faced off against the nation’s top-tier practitioners. The “Best of the Best” tournament is renowned for its elite level of competition, serving as a proving ground for the most dedicated martial artists in the country.

The performance of these young athletes continues the long-standing tradition of sportsmanship, discipline and excellence at DLSZ.

 

2025 National Interschool Championships

The team delivered a spectacular performance last August 23-24, 2025 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, Manila City.

The highlight of the weekend was the commanding performance of Roux Dylan Misagal (not in photo), who battled through a competitive bracket to secure the Gold Medal. Misagal’s victory stood as a testament to the technical skill and tactical maturity fostered within the DLSZ program.

The team also saw two athletes reach the finals to secure Silver Medals:

  • Paul Sebastian Alcantara (DLSZ 2029)

 

A wave of Bronze Medals further bolstered the team’s tally, with nine athletes showcasing incredible heart and grit to reach the podium:

  • Pauleen Cayanan (DLSZ BRafeNHS 2031)
  • Samon Therese Santiago (DLSZ 2035)

Fielding a formidable roster of athletes in the Kyorugi (sparring) division, the team secured a total of 12 medals, including a gold and two silver finishes, reinforcing the school’s status as a powerhouse in the national interschool martial arts scene.
