De La Salle Santiago Zobel is one of the participants in Dusit Thani Manila’s annual Christmas Tree Project. Our official entry is entitled “Tree of Hope”,  a christmas tree made of used books and plywood scraps.
The contest will officially open on November 15, 2012 with a Grand Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at the hotel lobby where the City Mayor and Secretary of Tourism will be Guest of Honors. The top tree winners will each receive a cash prize, which will be donated to their chosen charities.
The DLSZ Chorale will be performing along with at least a hundred students from participating schools, which will be called “Hundred Voices of Christmas”. In addition. The DLSZ Chorale will perform lenghtily one night each, nine days before Christmas, using their own Christmas repertoire.
True to De La Salle Santiago Zobel’s mission of service, the Tree of Hope is offered to one of our adopted public schools in Calatagan, Batangas, the Calambuyan Elementary School which is an “upland school located in Baranggay Sta. Ana Calatagan, Batangas and houses less than a hundred students and three highly-committed teachers doing multi-grade learning sessions. Students come from poor families engaged in farming.”
All trees will be on exhibit from November 15 to December 28, 2012. At the end of the year,  three winners will be announced. Winning entries will be based on voting made through Facebook and Ballot Voting.
