{"id":9997,"date":"2015-09-07T18:23:05","date_gmt":"2015-09-07T10:23:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dlszobel.edu.ph\/?p=9997"},"modified":"2015-09-07T18:23:05","modified_gmt":"2015-09-07T10:23:05","slug":"health-advisory-on-dengue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dlszobel.edu.ph\/index.php\/2015\/09\/07\/health-advisory-on-dengue\/","title":{"rendered":"Health Advisory on Dengue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s dengue season once again and we would like to advise everyone to make the following necessary self-protection measures to avoid being infected with this disease caused by the dengue virus:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wear long sleeved shirt.<\/li>\n<li>Apply\u00a0\u00a0mosquito repellant on exposed parts of the body every day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Dengue fever<\/strong> and <strong>dengue hemorrhagic fever<\/strong>, caused by an <em>Aedes aegypti<\/em> mosquito bite that is infected with any one of the four dengue viruses, are acute viral infections that affect infants, young children, and adults.\u00a0 According to the Department of Health Advisory, the patient must be brought to the nearest hospital if fever or any of the following symptoms persist for 2 or more days:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sudden onset of high fever which may last from 2 to 7 days.<\/li>\n<li>Joint and muscle pain and pain behind the eyes<\/li>\n<li>Weakness<\/li>\n<li>Skin rashes<\/li>\n<li>Nosebleeding when fever starts to subside<\/li>\n<li>Abdominal pain<\/li>\n<li>Vomiting of coffee-colored matter<\/li>\n<li>Dark-colored stools<\/li>\n<li>Difficulty of breathing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In order to ensure that the infestation of the dengue mosquito will be under control in the campus, DLSZ\u2019s Administrative Services Department has been implementing the following measures:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Contracting the services of iPower Products &amp; Systems, Inc. to install\u00a0a\u00a0Mosquito Terminating System (MTS) that is environmentally safe;<\/li>\n<li>Contracting the services of a pest control company to conduct fogging and misting every other week;<\/li>\n<li>Installation of several units\u00a0of electric\u00a0mosquito zappers in strategic areas around the campus;<\/li>\n<li>Regular cleaning of gutters in all the buildings;<\/li>\n<li>Disposal of all unusable containers that collect and hold water.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Parents are also advised to disallow their children, who have fever, from going to school and to immediately consult a doctor should they manifest symptoms of dengue infection.\u00a0 As a matter of school policy, a medical certificate should be presented to the school physician before a medical clearance is issued to a student who has been absent for at least 3 days due to illness.<br \/>\nReference:\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.doh.gov.ph\/sites\/default\/files\/Philippine%20Health%20Advisories,%202012.pdf\">http:\/\/www.doh.gov.ph\/sites\/default\/files\/Philippine%20Health%20Advisories,%202012.pdf<\/a><br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9998\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9998\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dlszobel.edu.ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Stop-Dengue.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-9998\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dlszobel.edu.ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Stop-Dengue-300x183.jpg\" alt=\"Image credit:  http:\/\/www.epakistannews.com\/25366\/dengue-virus-killed-four-in-lahore.html\" width=\"300\" height=\"183\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9998\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Image credit: http:\/\/www.epakistannews.com\/25366\/dengue-virus-killed-four-in-lahore.html<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s dengue season once again and we would like to advise everyone to make the following necessary self-protection measures to avoid being infected with this disease caused by the dengue [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[5,3],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-9997","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-family-portal","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.1.1 -
