Drawing a record field of over 300 participants, this year’s Celebrity Sports Club \u2013 Palawan Pawnshop, National Age Group Tennis Championships<\/strong> showcased budding junior tennis players the country has to offer.\u00a0\u00a0 Future tennis stars of the archipelago converged at the Celebrity Sports Complex, Quezon City during this five-day tourney which pitted hopefuls from the different provinces of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
\nMarcus\u00a0\u201cMacky\u201d del Rosario (DLSZ 2020)<\/strong> and Angelo Jose Aparte (DLSZ 2020)<\/strong> participated in the said tournament where the former took the gold for both the singles and doubles event while the latter got gold in the doubles 14 years old and under age group.
\nIn the singles championship match, Macky, provided a sterling performance against 2nd seed, Visayan native – Aljon Talatayod of Arellano University.\u00a0 Entering the championship games of the match, it was 5-5 all in the third and final set.\u00a0 Talatayod was up 40-15 needing just one more point to go up 6-5 but Macky brought forth the \u201canimo\u201d in him bringing the game to deuce and finally getting game point.\u00a0 Del Rosario finally closed out the match on his service and eventually winning the championship with a score of 6 -2,1- 6, 7-5.
\nThe 14 years old and under doubles championship match saw a De La Salle Zobel School vs. Arellano University showdown pitting the top seeded teams in the tournament.\u00a0 Macky paired up with schoolmate Angelo Aparte and devastated the pair of Rosales and Talatayod of Arellano in a straight 8 match.\u00a0 So ruthless was the DLSZ doubles team that the duo immediately took a commanding lead at 6-1 and eventually closing out the championship at a final score of 8-3.
