Grade school (Grades 6 to 7) and high school\u00c2\u00a0(3rd to\u00c2\u00a04th year) students are invited to join the PreMYo Rizal Nationwide Essay Writing Contest on the life and works of national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal.
\nFor the grade school level, participants are\u00c2\u00a0expected to write an essay in Filipino answering the question \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Kung nabubuhay si Rizal ngayon, ano ang nais mong sabihin o itanong sa kanya?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\u00c2\u00a0 <\/em>They are also given a set of questions to choose from for a letter to be written to the national hero.
\nEach high school participant\u00c2\u00a0is tasked to compose an essay in English expressing his or her ideas and feelings about a character from Rizal’s novels,\u00c2\u00a0 Noli Me Tangere<\/em> or El Filibusterismo,<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0that is relevant to today’s Philippine society and political reality.
\nDeadline of entries is on September 30, 2012.
\nPreMYo Rizal is \u00c2\u00a0organized by MyRizal150 in collaboration with the Department of Education.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Its objective is to “reach out to the Filipino youth and challenge them to learn more about Rizal, articulate what he stood for, and think of ways they can emulate his idealism in their own lives. At the same time, by giving value to essay writing, MyRizal and the DepEd hope to elevate critical thinking and literary writing to a higher standard, and to hold up our young writers as role models worthy of acclaim and public admiration!” (http:\/\/myrizal150.com\/2011\/11\/the-search-is-on-for-the-pinoy-literary-idol\/<\/a>)
\nLast year,\u00c2\u00a0Jose Agustin Crisostomo (DLSZ 2013) was\u00c2\u00a0one of the\u00c2\u00a0finalists in the said contest.
