To carve, to invent, to craft. Art is a consideration of beauty\u2014engineers carve machinery, doctors invent cures, and scientists craft solutions\u2014and the practice of these fields can and should be beautiful, even artful. By adding an element of artistry to traditionally scientific fields, we reveal the potential for creative expression that is too often dissociated from the idea of STEM education in the Philippines. LILOK II <\/strong>is a culmination of that which resides in every person\u2014the ability to imagine, then manifest into reality. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presenting a mixture of imagined model devices with uses ranging from industry to industry, the Grade 12 STEM students have added a new layer of meaning to Contemporary Art: they do not simply make art that is contemporary, but make art that changes the contemporary world. Through the making of this exhibit, these students have gained more insight into how education and art can shape relevant social issues. By constructing machines meant to address issues previously ignored because they only affect the marginalized, they hope to promote a narrative of innovation and social responsibility among individuals, communities, and nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LILOK II<\/strong> is an exhibit showcasing the idealistic hopes of this generation for the future of technology in the country – machines made to build a better, more beautiful world. Dreaming up innovative solutions in every field from home air filtration to hospital patient care, students have submitted various models that are made with a focus on both form and function to tackle economic disparity and improve quality of life. Join us as we reminisce about a year lost and a year gained, as the class of 2021 comes to the end of the line, and as we imagine how we will come to change the world in the months and years to come.\u00a0 Come and sculpt a new world with us on March 29, 2021 at\u00a0 4:45<\/strong> PM on the High School Student Representative Coordinating Council\u2019s Facebook Page<\/strong>, and experience the practical beauty of STEAM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
