MEASURES AGAINST DENGUE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s&nbsp;<span class=\"il\">dengue<\/span>&nbsp;season once again and we would like to advise everyone to take the following necessary self-protection measures to avoid being infected with this disease caused by the&nbsp;<span class=\"il\">dengue<\/span>&nbsp;virus:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Female students may wear full-length pants <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(no skinny or ripped jeans) or long socks (knee length) to school.&nbsp; They<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&nbsp;may wear it with any DLSZ shirt. <em>(Note: this special arrangement is effective July 8, 2019, until deemed necessary)<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<li>Apply mosquito repellent on exposed parts of the body every day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span class=\"il\">Dengue<\/span>&nbsp;fever<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong><span class=\"il\">dengue<\/span>&nbsp;hemorrhagic fever<\/strong>, caused by an&nbsp;<em>Aedes aegypti<\/em>&nbsp;mosquito bite that is infected with any one of the four&nbsp;<span class=\"il\">dengue<\/span>&nbsp;viruses, are acute viral infections that affect infants, young children, and adults.&nbsp; According to the Department of Health Advisory, the patient must be brought to the nearest hospital if fever or any of the following symptoms persist for 2 or more days:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sudden onset of high fever which may last from 2 to 7 days.<\/li>\n<li>Joint and muscle pain and pain behind the eyes<\/li>\n<li>Weakness<\/li>\n<li>Skin rashes<\/li>\n<li>Nose bleeding when fever starts to subside<\/li>\n<li>Abdominal pain<\/li>\n<li>Vomiting of coffee-colored matter<\/li>\n<li>Dark-colored stools<\/li>\n<li>Difficulty of breathing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In order to&nbsp;prevent the infestation of the&nbsp;<span class=\"il\">dengue<\/span>&nbsp;mosquito in the campus, DLSZ\u2019s Facilities and Environmental Program Management Office (FEPMO)&nbsp; has been implementing the following measures:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Contracting the services of iPower Products &amp; Systems, Inc. to install&nbsp;a&nbsp;Mosquito Terminating System (MTS) that is environmentally safe;<\/li>\n<li>Contracting the services of a pest control company to conduct fogging and misting every Saturday and Sunday;<\/li>\n<li>Installation of several units&nbsp;of electric&nbsp;mosquito zappers in strategic areas around the campus;<\/li>\n<li>Regular cleaning of gutters in all the buildings;<\/li>\n<li>Disposal of all unusable containers that collect and hold water.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Parents are also advised to disallow their children, who have fever, from going to school and to immediately consult a doctor should they manifest symptoms of&nbsp;<span class=\"il\">dengue<\/span>&nbsp;infection.&nbsp; As a matter of school policy, a medical certificate should be presented to the school physician before a medical clearance is issued to a student who
