{"id":15208,"date":"2018-09-27T13:13:34","date_gmt":"2018-09-27T05:13:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dlszobel.edu.ph\/?p=15208"},"modified":"2018-09-27T13:13:34","modified_gmt":"2018-09-27T05:13:34","slug":"15208","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dlszobel.edu.ph\/index.php\/2018\/09\/27\/15208\/","title":{"rendered":"DLSZ CONTINGENT SHINES IN UEMUNC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>\u201cRedefining Global Goals towards International Cooperation and Solidarity.&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0This was the mantra of the 5<sup>th<\/sup> University of the East Model United Nations Conference held on September 19 \u2013 20, 2018.<br \/>\nSeventy five delegates from various high schools and universities including the University of the East, Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, De La Salle College of Saint Benilde, De La Salle Santiago Zobel, San Juan de Letran University, Mapua University, Philippine Science High School, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, South Hill School, University of Asia and the Pacific, University of the Philippines-Diliman, University of the Philippines-Los Ba\u00f1os, University of Pangasinan, University of Santo Tomas, and Tagaytay City National High School came together to discuss relevant topics related to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.<br \/>\nDe La Salle Santiago Zobel School sent the following nine delegates who exhibited their acumens in public speaking and written communication:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Allen Conner C. Hizon (DLSZ 2024)<\/li>\n<li>Dominic Leo B. Ramos (DLSZ 2024)<\/li>\n<li>Elisha Anne J. Barrameda (DLSZ 2021)<\/li>\n<li>Kristen Caroline I. Reyes (DLSZ 2022)<\/li>\n<li>Mariella Q. Urera (DLSZ 2021)<\/li>\n<li>Martha Beatrice Faith Curabo (DLSZ 2022)<\/li>\n<li>Raphael Philippe Bicaldo (DLSZ 2021)<\/li>\n<li>Raphael C. Sabater (DLSZ 2022)<\/li>\n<li>Theresa Enrica L. Limgenco (DLSZ 2022)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The DLSZ contingent snitched three awards composed of two formal and one informal awards.\u00a0<strong>Martha Beatrice Faith Curabo<\/strong> brought home <strong>Best Position Paper<\/strong> entitled \u201c<em>Security Council:\u00a0<\/em><em>United States and China: Bid for Naval Supremacy in Southeast Asia\u00a0<\/em><em>Continuous Turmoil in Yemen\u201d,<\/em> while <strong>Dominic Leo B. Ramos<\/strong> bagged the <strong>Most Outstanding Delegate <\/strong>of the conference. The <strong>Small But Terible Award<\/strong> was conferred to <strong>Raphael C. Sabater<\/strong> for his passion, consistency, and determination.<br \/>\nEach delegate\u00a0was given a country to represent in their respective committees which simulate the emissaries in the United Nations. Students act as diplomats or ambassadors of the given countries. They are given topics with which they have to create a position paper. It is also expected of them to learn the parliamentary procedures, to speak in the assembly, to learn how to collaborate and to form allies, to compromise, and to solve real-world issues.
