{"id":12288,"date":"2016-12-06T09:03:52","date_gmt":"2016-12-06T01:03:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dlszobel.edu.ph\/?p=12288"},"modified":"2016-12-06T09:03:52","modified_gmt":"2016-12-06T01:03:52","slug":"grade-school-science-coordinator-wins-first-place-in-paper-presentation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dlszobel.edu.ph\/index.php\/2016\/12\/06\/grade-school-science-coordinator-wins-first-place-in-paper-presentation\/","title":{"rendered":"Grade School Science Coordinator Wins First Place in Paper Presentation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ms. Genevieve Arizala-Pillar, Grade School Science Coordinator, presented her research in the <strong>National Organization of Science Teachers and Educators<\/strong> <strong>(NOSTE) 2016 International Research<\/strong> last October 7-9, 2016 at DepEd RELC Ecotech Center, Lahug, Cebu City. <strong>\u201cScience Education through Inquiry for Sustainable Development\u201d<\/strong> was the theme of this seminar-workshop.<br \/>\nOut of 85 research presenters, Ms.Pillar\u2019s paper was awarded <strong>FIRST PLACE \u2013 PAPER PRESENTATION<\/strong>. Her paper is entitled, <strong>\u201cBlended Learning Approach: Developing Scientific Reasoning of Grade 4 Science Students\u201d<\/strong>. The study underscores that a well-designed eModule using interactive applications facilitated the development of the students&#8217; scientific reasoning skills in understanding the concept of plant propagation, promoted creative thinking, self-directed learning, and mastery through varied technologies. To determine how blended learning approach affect Grade 4 Science students&#8217; scientific reasoning, a constructivist classroom setting and teaching approach were used. The students experienced a blended learning instruction, where the teacher employed the Understanding by Design Framework using face-to-face sessions electronic modules with interactive applications and digital media in improving students&#8217; conceptions on plant propagation.<br \/>\nThe research also showed that the use of interactive applications facilitated the development of the students\u2019 understanding in learning plant propagation. The learning module used in this study was created by the Grade School\u00a0Science teacher, Ms. Winona Y. Diola. The co-authors of the research presentation were Dr.Maricar S. Prudente (De La Salle University-Manila) and Socorro E.
