1.<\/strong> What is Senior High School? \u00a0\u00a0<\/b>
\nSenior High School (SHS) is specialized upper secondary education composed of the Core Curriculum and Track. SHS covers Grade 11 and Grade 12, the last 2 years of basic education as mandated by RA 10533 that specifies K to 12 as the new basic education curriculum.<\/span>
\n2. What is the difference between the current high school curriculum and SHS?<\/b><\/b>
\nThe current high school curriculum is part of the Basic Education Curriculum which is called the K to 12 Curriculum. It subsumes Senior High School which includes Grades 11 and 12. \u00a0This curriculum also includes Junior High School which includes Grades 7, 8, 9 and 10. \u00a0While Junior High School aims to make students possess foundational skills across all learning areas with moderate supervision, Senior High School (SHS) aims to make students acquire functional skills across learning areas using more advanced technology with a higher degree of independence. Further, SHS in De La Salle Santiago Zobel School (DLSZ)\u00a0aims to make students college and career-ready.<\/span>
\n3. Will DLSZ offer SHS? <\/b><\/b>
\nYes. DLSZ will be offering SHS in the Ayala Alabang Campus.
\nIt\u00a0will eventually be moved to DLSZ-Vermosa campus in Imus, Cavite on June 2017.
\n4.\u00a0What<\/strong> academic tracks will DLSZ be offering for its SHS?<\/b>
\nBeginning AY 2016-2017, DLSZ will offer:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a01. \u00a0Academic Track\u00a0<\/span>with the following strands:<\/p>\n

Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM)<\/p>\n

Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS)<\/p>\n

Science, Technology and Engineering (STEM)<\/p>\n

2. \u00a0Arts and Design Track<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

5. How will I choose my specialization?<\/b><\/b>
\nThe student chooses his\/her specialization after he\/she undergoes career assessment and guidance tests. These are standardized ability and interest tests that predict the college course and career a student will most likely be successful in. Results of these standardized tests are discussed with the student by the level counselor, after which he chooses a track. In the case of De La Salle Santiago Zobel School (DLSZ), the student’s choice of track is communicated to the parents who will be involved in the decision making of the child. DLSZ recognizes the importance of making the students render informed choices. The child is allowed to enroll only in one track of his\/her choice.<\/span>
\n6.\u00a0<\/strong>Do I really need to go to SHS?<\/b>
\nYes, as mandated by law. \u00a0Beginning AY 2016-2017, Grade 11 will be introduced. <\/span>
\nBy March 2018, DLSZ will have produced its first batch of high school graduates who have fully subscribed to the K to 12 Program which they followed when they were in Grade 6.<\/span>
\n7.<\/strong>\u00a0Does this mean that I have to stay in high school for two more years?<\/b>
\nNo. Since 2006, DLSZ has been offering a 13-year pre-university program and has been compliant with the K to 12 Basic Education Program of the Department of Education.<\/span>
\nSince Academic Year (AY) 2012-2013, it has been in the midst of transitioning efforts towards the implementation of the K to 12 Program. In addition, please note that all grade school students skipped one level in AY 2013-2014 ONLY.<\/span>
\n8.<\/strong>\u00a0I am a current student of DLSZ and I would like to pursue SHS here. \u00a0Do I need to apply for it and undergo admissions test?<\/b>
\nCurrent Grade 10 students in DLSZ need not apply as they have been profiled for tracking. \u00a0\u00a0Further, our Grade 10 students will be given ability and readiness tests that will help identify students who need intervention programs in preparation for Grade 11 next academic year.<\/span>
\n9. What will happen if I will not go to SHS? Will I still get my academic records up to junior high school?<\/b>
\nUnder the new basic education curriculum or K to 12, a student is considered a High School Graduate if he\/she completes and passes Grade 12. If one does not go to SHS, he\/she is just a Grade 10 completer, as may be written in a certificate of completion. Should a student in Grade 10 wish to transfer to another school, we can only release her records of Junior High School and issue only a certificate of completion of Grade 10, not a high school diploma.<\/span>
\n10. Will the SHS be offered in the Br. Rafael Donato Night High School (BRafeNHS)<\/b>?<\/span>
\nDLSZ-BRafeNHS will offer SHS with the Technical-Vocational and Livelihood Track (TVL) with the following strands: Home Economics, Information and Communication Technology, and Industrial Arts. The General Academic Strand (GAS) of the Academic Track will likewise be offered in AY 2016-2017.
\n11. Will the BRafeNHS move to the Vermosa Campus for AY 2016-2017 <\/b>?<\/span>
\nBRafeNHS SHS will \u00a0be offered in the AAV campus and will be moved to the Vermosa campus in the future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
