{"id":428,"date":"2010-10-11T15:35:54","date_gmt":"2010-10-11T07:35:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www1.dlszobel.edu.ph\/?page_id=428"},"modified":"2021-09-16T10:24:15","modified_gmt":"2021-09-16T02:24:15","slug":"formation","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.dlszobel.edu.ph\/index.php\/new-to-dlsz\/the-zobel-legacy\/formation\/","title":{"rendered":"History"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De La Salle Santiago Zobel School (DLSZ) is a member of De La Salle Philippines (DLSP), a new district-wide network of sixteen Lasallian schools in the country. The school was established on March 29, 1978 to meet the objective of moving the elementary department of De La Salle University \u2013 Manila to a more conducive and suitable learning environment with a high school department to assure grade school graduates of placement for secondary education. The school opened in June 1978 initially with prep to Grade 6 levels. With the addition of Grade 7 the following year, the Grade School Department became fully operational in June 1979. In June 1980, the High School Department opened with four freshmen classes and became fully operational in June 1983. Since then, De la Salle Zobel has been producing outstanding Lasallians who are responsible citizens in the service of church and country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Located at the heart of Ayala Alabang Village, DLSZ answers the educational needs of southern Metro Manila for quality comprehensive basic education.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first De la Salle School in the Philippines was opened on June 16, 1911 in General Luna, Paco, Manila at the request of the then Archbishop of Manila.\u00a0 In 1921, the school was moved to its present site on Taft Avenue. The Brothers have since opened schools in Greenhills, Mandaluyong; Antipolo, Rizal; Lipa, Batangas; Bacolod, Negros Occidental; Iligan, Lanao del Norte; Dasmari\u00f1as, Cavite; Bi\u00f1an, Laguna, Malabon, Bataan and Alabang, Muntinlupa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To make Lasallian education more accessible to a greater majority of students in southern Mega Manila, DLSZ built an extension campus in Vermosa, Imus City, Cavite. On April 5, 2016, DLSZ held its ground breaking rites to mark the start of construction of its new campus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2017, the DLSZ-Vermosa Campus has opened its doors to Grades 11 and 12 students. The following year, DLSZ added Grade 7 and in 2018, accepted Grade 8 students. DLSZ pivoted to Online Distance Learning (ODL) program\u00a0since June 2020 of AY 2020-2021 in compliance with the\u00a0Philippine government&#8217;s postponement of face-to-face classes until a vaccine for the COVID-19 pandemic is available, and following the official statement from Sec. Leonor Briones, secretary of the Department of Education on June 8, 2020.\u00a0 <\/span>In its second year of ODL for AY 2021-2022, the construction of the new grade school to junior high school building in Vermosa Campus is ongoing in preparation for the time when face to face classes is permitted once again and the Vermosa Campus can start to welcome Pre-Kinder, Kinder and Grade 1 students and the complete levels of Junior to Senior High School,\u00a0from Grade 7 to Grade 12.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The main purpose of every Christian school according to St. John Baptist de La Salle is to rear children in accordance with the teachings of Christ as found in the gospel. Thus, DLSZ, as an academic community, fosters not only academic excellence but also the spiritual and moral maturity of the individual.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The traditional Lasallian core values of <em>Faith<\/em>, <em>Zeal for Service<\/em>, and <em>Communion in Mission<\/em> guide the students of De La Salle Santiago Zobel School in their daily interaction in and outside the school.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Faith.<\/strong> De La Salle Santiago Zobel, as a Catholic school, professes faith in God the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit and all the other revealed truths of religion found in the Holy Scriptures as interpreted and taught by the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zeal for Service.<\/strong> De La Salle Santiago Zobel, aware that the educational goals are modified by the exigencies of national history and the need to define imperatives of Philippine society, seeks to instill the spirit of nationalism, social awareness, social responsibility and social justice.<\/p>\n<p><strong> Communion in Mission.<\/strong> De La Salle Santiago Zobel, as an educational institution of the La Salle Brothers in the Philippines, seeks to reflect with full commitment its faith in the enduring value of humanity\u2019s cultural heritage and in the emerging national culture of the Philippines.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #444444;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>De La Salle Santiago Zobel School (DLSZ) is a member of De La Salle Philippines (DLSP), a new district-wide network of sixteen Lasallian schools in the country.
