DLSZ Students Place in Google's Web Rangers Competition

Last July 18, nine DLSZ students attended the workshop and took part in the competition after qualifying for Web Rangers, which was initiated by Google, in partnership with the National Youth Commission (NYC).
The interest of Google to keep the Internet a safe environment for teens, both in school and out pushed them to come up with this competition. Participants of this competition are known as Web Rangers, and they were tasked to create a campaign that could end cyber bullying.
Prior to the competition, these “first batch of Philippine Web Rangers underwent a one-day Google training program filled with inspiring speakers tackling the growing issue of cyber bullying.” At the end of the training session, these students were grouped in random teams composed of 4-5 teens. Then, they were tasked to create a campaign that could end cyber bullying.
Four of the nine students placed in the competition. They were awarded last August 20.

Hyun Jo Song, with her group, will visit the Google Office in Singapore as their prize for being named as the Best Campaign in the competition.
Only 60 students in Metro Manila were qualified to be part of this workshop and competition.
