Four GEM Students Qualify in Singapore Math Contests

Four DLSZ GEM students who trained for Mathematics Trainers’ Guild (MTG) Philippines last summer shall be heading to Singapore to compete in Math competitions.

Three of these four students qualified in the International Math Competition (IMC) to be held in Singapore on July 31 – August 3, 2015. The students are Carlos Benedict Echevarria (DLSZ 2015), Grant Lewis Bulaong (DLSZ 2016), and Joaquin Nicholas Mercado (DLSZ 2017).

According to Mr. Albert Pagilagan, High School Math Teacher, there are a number of grade school students from other La Salle Schools who qualified in this same contest.  But we are the only La Salle high school who have students qualifying in this international math competition.

The fourth GEM student is Kouji Tomas (DLSZ 2014), recipient of the Best in Math Award in the recent High School graduation rites, will compete in the 2015 Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge (SIMOC).  This will be held in Singapore on August 14 – 17, 2015.

Two years ago, three of our GEM students (Daniella Kristin Marie Evan (DLSZ 2016), Grant Lewis Bulaong, and Carlos Benedict Echevarria competed in an international math contest.  Last year, two GEM students (Daniella Evan and Julia Nicole Saulog (DLSZ 2018)) competed internationally.  This time, we now have four students who set to compete.

Good luck Carlos, Grant, Joaquin and Kouji! Animo La Salle!
