DLSZ Robotics Team Wins Two Medals in World Robot Games, Indonesia

The DLSZ Robotics Team finished with two medals in the World Robot Games. Team coach, Mr. Albert Morris Pagilagan, who also joined the contest, received a Performance Award medal for reaching the semi-finals round of the Sumobot 3kg event, while Justin Aaron Natividad (DLSZ 2018) received a medal for the Most Creative Robot award.

Mr. Pagilagan was given the award for being the only Philippine contestant who survived and reached the semifinals. The other 3 semifinalists all came from Thailand.

Aaron Natividad was given the most Creative Award for designing and using the most unique robot in the Sumobot 1kg Family event. His robot drew attention from the opposing teams and the judges as it was the only one that used a servo motor technology.

The other members of the DLSZ Robotics team are as follows:

  • Mr. Ezrel Alucilja – team coach and contestant in the Underwater Robot Challenge
  • John Sebastian Gerard Julian Dela Cruz (DLSZ 2017) – contestant in the Robot Firefighting event
  • Joaquin Gilberto Amante (DLSZ 2018) – contestant in the Robot Firefighting and 1kg Sumobot Family events
  • Dr. Eric Jason Amante (DLSZ 1989) – father of Joaquin and contestant in the 1kg Sumobot Family event
  • Mr. Ariel Natividad – father of Aaron and contestant in the 1kg Sumobot Family event

The World Robot Games was held in Jakarta, Indonesia from June 1 – 3.  It was participated by more than 100 robotics teams from Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, and Philippines.
