Art Department Exhibits “The Start of Something Big”

An art exhibit labeled as “The Start of Something Big” was opened last February 15, 2011 at the DLSZ Museum in the St. Mutien Marie Building.
Anthony Militante (DLSZ 2012) led the invocation that marked the start of the program. Inspired by the Beatles song “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”, Mr. Rolly Delos Santos, Art Coordinator, delivered his welcome remarks.
Br. Dennis Magbanua FSC, in his inspirational message, quoted Pablo Picasso:   “Every child is an artist, the problem is how can we retain it when we grow up.” According to Br. Dennis, every child has limitless possibilities and their artwork is a product of the attention that their teachers have accorded them. It is the teacher’s role to capture the child’s dream and view it as a start of something big.
Before the exhibit’s formal opening, the exemplary works of the Grade School and High School students were cited and given awards by Mr. delos Santos together with Ms. Ruby Ramos and Ms. Melissa Cruz, the Grade School and High School Principals respectively.
The winners from the different art contests received certificates and art materials donated by Ms. Rosanna Wang of Lyra Company.
Much to the delight of the attendees, Gabriel Atayde (DLSZ 2011), Paulo Mendoza (DLSZ 2011), and Patrick Limchoc (DLSZ 2011) rendered an acoustic performance of Michael Buble’s songs.
Anthony Militante and Kimberly Francia (DLSZ 2012), the Masters of Ceremony called Ms. Melissa Cruz for her closing remarks. She encouraged students to continue dreaming big; and for the teachers and art enthusiasts to support the young artists.
Br. Dennis, Ms. Ramos, Ms. Cruz and Mr. delos Santos led the cutting of ribbon to formally open the exhibit to everyone.
