DLSZ Art Curator Represents the Philippines

New Icon: Pop in Asia is the first annual international art exchange program organized by the Center for Art and Community Management at Surya University, Indonesia in collaboration with the Mission of the Republic of Korean to ASEAN to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the ASEAN-the Republic of Korea dialogue relations.  The art exhibit that opens on August 16, 2014aims at introducing works of Asian contemporaries who are inspired and influenced by pop culture.
Thomas Daquioag is the Curator of Spark Museum and moderator of the Advance Art Mentoring Program under the Cultural Affairs Office of DLSZ.  He graduated in 1994 with a degree in Painting from the University of Santo Tomas.  After his first solo show was mounted in the Cultural Center of the Philippines, he became a recipient of the Dharmasiswa Arts and Culture Studies Grant in Bali, Indonesia, and the Asian Artist Freeman Fellowship of the Vermont Studio Center in Vermont, USA.  He has exhibited his works in New York, Beijing, Korea Singapore and Nagoya while participating in a group shows in Manila. He is also an experienced Art Educator, well-traveled performance artist and art competition veteran with several awards under his utility belt.
