Our very own Maria Luisa P. Gamboa (DLSZ 2012) and Mia Patricia P. Santos (DLSZ 2012) are chosen to be the Youth for Understanding (YFU) exchange scholars in the Philippines to go to Japan under the sponsorship of the Japanese Ministry of Education & Culture (MONKASHO) and YFU Japan Inc. and YFU/Philippines.
Only five Philippine high school students were chosen to be YFU exchange students. Together with Luisa and Mia are students from Miriam College, St. Pedro Poveda School and Philippine High School for the Arts. They left for Tokyo last January 25, 2012 to begin their participation in a short-term Japanese Language Program, school attendance, and home stay with Japanese host families for 28 days. They will return to the Philippines on February 18, 2012.
Youth For Understanding (YFU) is a private, non-profit educational organization dedicated to promoting international understanding and world peace through exchange programs for high school students.
