In the concluded 74th University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season, De La Salle Santiago Zobel (DLSZ) grabbed the following string of medal victories in Basketball, Swimming, Taekwondo, and Judo.
The animo lives on as the Junior Archers placed third in this UAAP season. Our very own Gabriel S. Reyes (DLSZ 2012) and Alexander David B. Torres (DLSZ 2012) achieved the Junior Basketball Mythical 5.
DLSZ Juniors Swimming boys finished third overall while the girls bagged fourth. They accumulated a total of 2 Golds, 5 Silvers and 5 Bronze in 4×100 Boys Freestyle Relay, 4×50 Boys Freestyle Relay; 4 x 50 Boys Medley Relay, 4×50 Girls Medley Relay, 4×200 Girls Freestyle Relay, 4 x 100 Girls Freestyle Relay, 50 Freestyle; 100 Freestyle, 4×200 Boys Freestyle Relay, 200 Backstroke, 4×50 Freestyle Relay, 50 Freestyle respectively.
A fourth place finish was amassed by the Juniors Taekwondo. Jose Lorenzo Gonzalez (DLSZ 2015) won the gold medal while Alfred Jacob Amorado achieved the bronze medal.
Moreover, the DLSZ Judo Team ranked fourth during this season. Ivan Matthew Oleta (DLSZ 2014) and Brian Dominic Azarcon (DLSZ 2013) each won silver medals while Mario Leonilo Marcos III (DLSZ 2012)and Andrew Davis (DLSZ 2013) received the bronze medals.
UAAP Season 74 is the 2011-2012 athletic year of the University Athletics Association of the Philippines. Ateneo De Manila University hosted this year’s UAAP. The opening ceremonies was held last July 9, 2011 at the Marikina Sports Complex.
