Developing Linkage with Other Asian Schools

Br Dennis recently went to Korea for a visit to several private and public schools for possible tie-up especially in the areas of Academics, Culture and Sports. One of the schools visited was Sekwang High School, a public school for boys in Cheongju, Korea. He was warmly welcomed by the school community, including members of the school board. Below is the welcome remarks of the Principal of Sekwang High School during a brief ceremony prior to the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between the two schools:

————————-

To begin with, I’d like to thank God for leading De La Salle Santiago Zobel School and Sekwang High into a sisterhood partnership.

You have also come here all the way from the Philippines for this meaningful meeting and I sincerely welcome all of you, especially to Principal Dennis Magbanua, the Art Coordinator, Mr Rolando de los Santos, and to the Head of Cultural Affairs Office,Ms Leilani Maderazo.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations with the Philippines in 1949, there have been a variety of exchanges between the two countries, militarily, politically, economically and culturally. I also know that there have been a lot of efforts to promote the friendly relations between the two countries.

Above all, we shall never forget that your country was one of the allies that readily gave us a helping hand when we are faced with difficulties. From now on, we will try our best to promote mutual exchange and partnership with you to repay for what was done for us in the past.

Our schools’ bond does not simply stop with sports exchange programs but extends into the establishment of an academic tie between the two Christian schools.

I hope by expanding the range of exchanges to diverse areas, the two schools will enjoy prosperity and thereby declare the glory of God.

We’d like to treat you with our utmost devotion during our stay here. We kindly ask for your understanding if we happen to cause you any inconvenience due to cultural differences. My hope is that this trip will be a precious opportunity for you to better understand this city and province.

Once again I thank you and welcome you all and I wish for both schools much growth and success.
