DLSZ Figure Skaters Shine on Ice

De La Salle Santiago Zobel (DLSZ) salutes Miusia Jastin Muto (DLSZ 2022), Jillian Patrice Ching (DLSZ 2020), and Maria Isabella Ilagan (DLSZ 2017) for their triumph in various figure skating competitions in and out of the country.

Last August 11-18, 2011, Miusia, Jillian and Isabella competed against 700 figure skaters from China, Hongkong, Macau, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Qatar, Singapore, Indonesia, UAE and USA at the Jackson Ultima Skate Asia 2011 held at Imperial Ice World, Bangkok, Thailand.


These girls had successfully earned medals under the following skating events:

MUISIA JASTIN MUTO (Freestyle 4 Level)

  • Jump & Spin Event- Silver Medalist (2nd Place)
  • Solo Compulsories Event- Silver Medalist (2nd Place)
  • Technical Event- Silver Medalist (2nd Place)
  • Footwork Event- Bronze Medalist (3rd Place)
  • Light Entertainment Spotlight- Gold Medalist (1st Place)
  • Artistic Event- Silver Medalist (2nd Place)
  • Couples Event- Gold Medalist (1st Place)

JILLIAN PATRICE CHING (Beta Level)

  • Technical Event- Gold Medalist (1st Place)
  • Themed Solo Spotlight Event- Gold Medalist (1st Place)
  • Light Entertainment Spotlight Event- Gold Medalist (1st Place)
  • Solo Compulsories Event- Gold Medalist (1st Place)
  • Solo Surprise Event- Gold Medalist (1st Place)
  • Stroking Event- Gold Medalist (1st Place)
  • Character Spotlight Event-  Bronze Medalist (3rd Place)
  • Jump & Spin Event- Bronze Medalist (3rd Place)
  • Production Team member- Gold Medalist (1st Place)

MARIA ISABELLA ILAGAN (Freestyle 4 Level)

  • Jump & Spin Event-  Gold Medalist (1st Place)
  • Artistic Event-  Bronze Medalist (3rd Place)
  • Technical Event- Silver Medalist (2nd Place)
  • Dramatic Spotlight-  Gold Medalist (1st Place)
  • Character Spotlight Event- Bronze Medalist (3rd Place)
  • Production Team member- Gold Medalist (1st Place)

The Philippine Team ranked no.4 in the over-all team standing against 26 countries.
Just ten days after the competition in Bangkok, Thailand, Muto and Ching qualified and competed at the Philippine Figure Skating Challenge sanctioned by the Philippine Skating Union. The challenge was dubbed as Ultimate Ice Spectacle held at SM Mall of Asia last August 27-28, 2011.
Miusia Jastin Muto, Freestyle 4 (Advanced Level), placed second in the over-all standing under the Pre-Juvenile Division while Jillian Patrice Ching, Beta (Basic, Level 3 – Intermediate), bagged the gold in the over-all standing under the Single Skate-Interpretative (open age, open level) Division. She is the youngest entry in the said division and the first and only basic level figure skater who qualified, upstaging skaters from the Freestyle 2 and 4 Levels, respectively.
