City Officials declared Muntinlupa a “dengue hotspot” on Tuesday, August 16, 2011, due to an alarming increase in the number of dengue cases. To address this concern, De La Salle Santiago Zobel (DLSZ), located at the heart of Ayala Alabang Village, has taken the following actions:

  1. Installation of 150 units of electric mosquito repellant around the campus;
  2. Purchase of more mosquito repellant lotions to be made available in the clinic;
  3. Misting and fumigation of the whole campus every other Sunday.
  4. Daily cleaning and general cleaning on Saturdays of all classrooms and public areas;
  5. Regular washing, sorting and hauling of garbage to remove breeding place for mosquitoes;
  6. Removal of water plants in offices and regular rehabilitation of plants placed inside office/facilities;
  7. Dissemination of information on dengue to the students, employees, and guests through varied media.

In addition, all students are advised to wear long pants and use mosquito repellant lotion/patch to minimize future cases of insect bites from mosquito carriers.
