The De La Salle Santiago Zobel School (DLSZ) Rondalla has recently participated in this year’s National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA) Youth Solo Rondalla category, with Jiana Catherina Reyes (DLSZ 2020) as a soloist and Lian John Tiu (DLSZ 2020) as her accompaniment.
The two qualified for semifinals in the Far Eastern University on September 22, and later qualified for the finals in the CCP last November 22. With the rest of the group watching and supporting from the audience, the pair went on to win 3rd prize out of 24 finalists from all over the nation.
Since 1973, NAMCYA has consistently held its reputation as the most prestigious national music competitions in the Philippines. NAMCYA has continuously held annual competitions for various categories with the goal of discovering and developing outstanding young Filipino musicians as well as expanding and enhancing Filipino music.
